Welcome from the New Board!
Dear past, present, and future Friends of Rice Public Library,
Let us start off with a big “thank you” and much appreciation for the Board members and volunteers that have come before us, facilitating so many wonderful activities and fundraisers for the Friends of Rice Public Library. For years they have led this group and supported our library activities with so much generosity and care. Recently, they have asked to pass the baton to a new batch of willing leaders to carry on their foundational work. Next a big “thank you” and appreciation for all of you who have generously supported the Friends program, many for years and years. The work that happened couldn’t have blossomed without your faithful and generous giving and volunteering over the years.
The mission of the Friends of the Rice Public Library remains “to support RPL through fundraising and volunteer activities” including library programs such as the children’s summer reading program, funding museum passes, and more. The new Board will strive to continue this work as we expand and move forward. Our new Board members include:

Secretary: Karen Bensley
Web Development Lead: Jess Abbott
Children’s Library Liaison: Kathryn Brokus
We are busy learning the ropes from those that have gone before us and hope to hit our stride soon. The finances have been transferred, and we’ve launched various ways to share updates and keep in touch with you including this brand new website, an email newsletter, a Facebook page, and an Instagram account. We are also seeking additional volunteers to join us — whether a few hours of volunteering at a specific activity, or a willingness to take on a new project. And we thank you for your continued membership to Friends of RPL — our library is a gem!
Please note that we are a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization separate from the RPL Corporation, with a separate mission and funding exclusively from donations.
